Diagnosis & Healthcare Advocate

Hi, I’m Salena a proud medical mom and advocate. I’m here to share our journey with our amazing son, Adan, who was diagnosed with Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS) just one month after birth, and to offer support and connection to families walking similar paths. I’m also a mom to a vibrant 7-year-old daughter, and we live in beautiful California. Adan was born on November 26, 2022, after a healthy pregnancy and delivery at 38 weeks. At birth, he had a faint cry and a dusky color, but the doctors assured us everything was normal. Deep down, I knew something wasn’t right. After a long 122 day stay in the NICU, Adan was trached on December 21, 2022, and later received a G-tube on January 21, 2023, to help with feeding. Despite everything, Adan is now thriving he loves to run, play, and is working hard in feeding, speech, and early education therapies. He recently experienced his first seizure on June 21, 2025, and we’re now navigating this new chapter with the help of a neurologist. This journey has been full of challenges, but also immense growth, strength, and love. I’ve learned so much, and I’m passionate about sharing our story to support and empower other moms and caregivers facing similar battles.
